Kids Race Car Rides, Modified Twin 20 Shootouts at Devil’s Bowl Friday Night

“Christmas in July” toy donation drive to be made up; schedule adjustments announced

WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway will return from its annual summer break – which lasted a week longer than planned due to Mother Nature – on Friday, July 31 at 7:30 p.m. with one of the fan-favorite events of the stock car racing season. Allen Pools & Spas and the Thomas Dairy Kids Club present the annual Kids’ Race Car Rides as part of a jam-packed four-division card for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere.

The Bond Auto Parts Modified division will stay busy with a special “Twin 20” format of double feature races. Ron Proctor of Charlton, NY will try to defend his point lead in exciting, shootout-style, 20-lap sprints, and will square off against fellow title contenders Vince Quenneville Jr., Joey Roberts, and Greg Atkins.

Bristol, VT’s Josh Masterson chases his first career championship in the Central Vermont Motorcycles Late Model division and leads Robert Bryant Jr. and Todd Stone. Robert Gordon of Milton, VT tops Scott FitzGerald in the Brileya’s Chrysler-Jeep Renegades, and five-time winner Chris LaVair of Gabriels, NY has a comfortable advantage over his father, Harold LaVair, in the Portland Glass Mini Stocks.

Kids of all ages will see those drivers and many other stars and cars up close at intermission during the annual ride-along session, which is free of charge. The event also includes the “Christmas in July” toy donation drive to benefit the Fair Haven Concerned organization, which was postponed last week due to weather. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys, which will then be distributed by Fair Haven Concerned to underprivileged children in the surrounding towns of Fair Haven, West Haven, and Benson.

Devil’s Bowl has announced that the postponed MFT Sauce & Rub Co. Enduro Series race has been added to the Carrara Masonry & Concrete “C.J. Richards Memorial” on Friday, August 7. The event is headlined by a special 67-lap Modified race honoring Richards, who founded Devil’s Bowl Speedway in 1967.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series event that was called off by weather on July 24 will not be rescheduled. The Newport Chevrolet-Buick-GMC 100 was to be the debut for the series at Devil’s Bowl.

“The Valenti Modified event was one of the races we were looking forward to the most in 2015,” Devil’s Bowl promoter Mike Bruno said. “Jack Bateman and the VMRS staff have been great to work with, but neither of us have a date during the rest of the season that would fit well to reschedule the race.”

General admission for Allen Pools & Spas Night on Friday, July 31, featuring kids’ race car rides, is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and free for kids 12 and under. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with racing at 7:30 p.m.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, VT, four miles north of Exit 2 on U.S. Route 4. For more information, visit www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112.
