PHOTOS: Devil’s Bowl Speedway 2016 Preview at Weekend Car Shows, April 9-10

RUTLAND, Vt. – Race fans got a sneak preview of some of the machinery from Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s asphalt and dirt competition in a pair of events over the weekend.

Thirteen cars and drivers represented Devil’s Bowl at the Diamond Run Mall’s annual two-day racing show in Rutland, Vt. Defending asphalt champions Vince Quenneville Jr. and Josh Masterson displayed their Sportsman Modified and Late Model cars, respectively, accompanied by their championship hardware.

Other asphalt cars on display included those of Modified racers Billy Lussier, Jason Durgan, Bob Kilburn, and Joey Roberts, Late Model up-and-comer Seth Bridge, Renegades Scott FitzGerald, Jim McKiernan, and Tony Salerno, and Mini Stocks Andrew FitzGerald and rookie Brendan “Roo” Forrest.

Dirt Sportsman cars piloted by Jackie Brown Jr. and Brian Whittemore were also on hand. Other tracks represented in Rutland included Legion, Albany-Saratoga, and Five Mile Point.

Chad White’s Late Model was a popular attraction at the Adirondack Thunder ECHL hockey game at the Glens Falls (N.Y.) Civic Center on Saturday, and was conveniently parked in front of the doors that saw the largest crowd and first sellout of the season – a reported 4,959 fans – file through. White, of nearby Fort Ann, N.Y., happily chatted with fans and helped youngsters climb in and out of the driver’s seat.

NASCAR-sanctioned Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s 50th season kicks off with a two-surface weekend on May 21-22, with the asphalt half-mile running on Saturday night and the 3/10-mile dirt track going on Sunday night.
