Devil’s Bowl Speedway Cancels July 8 Truck & Tractor Pulls

Stock Car and Pro Truck racing still on as planned

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway has cancelled the Truck & Tractor Pulls event scheduled for Saturday, July 8. The decision was made from business and operational standpoints after analysis following the “Rutland County Rumble” event held on June 10.

There were several positive parts of the Rutland County Rumble event. A sizeable and enthusiastic grandstand crowd braved sweltering heat and sun to support the event, and two of the four pulling classes drew solid fields of entries with good competition.

However, there were several unanticipated challenges and a series of delays on June 10 which extended the pulling portion of the event nearly two hours later than planned. The July 8 event was to be followed in the evening by a full program of NASCAR stock car and Pro Truck Series racing – which is still on as planned – and the timing of the schedule is a major concern, although there are other matters that also factored into the cancellation of the pulls.

“We’re proud of our first effort and we heard some good feedback. It was definitely a learning curve,” Devil’s Bowl Speedway promoter Mike Bruno said. “There may be a chance for another pulling event in the future, but some changes would need to be made. Our main focus is stock car racing and we now know that holding a pulling event in the same day is just not possible. I want to thank Tim LaDuc, Lisa Gaboriault, Don Clark, my staff, and the people who helped us put the June event together.”

Weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing and the “Fast ‘N’ Dirty Weekend” doubleheader for the Mr. Rooter Pro Truck Series is still on the schedule as planned for July 8-9 with no changes. Asphalt Track racing will be on Saturday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. with Dirt Track racing on Sunday, July 9 at 6:00 p.m.
