Devil’s Bowl Speedway Revises Wednesday Night Drag Racing Schedule

July event rescheduled; drags to run three times in August

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway has announced changes to its Wednesday Night Drag Racing Series schedule for the remainder of the 2017 season. The new series, which is open to any motorized vehicle and any driver with a valid license, debuted in May and has been a fun addition to the Rutland County motorsports facility through its first two events.

Due to construction and repaving in the pit area at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, the event scheduled for July 19 has been postponed by two weeks to Wednesday, August 2. An extra event has been added the following week on August 9, and the series will also run its regularly scheduled event on August 23.

Drag races are held on a temporary two-lane, 250-foot drag strip on the frontstretch of the existing 1/2-mile paved oval. The informal, low-budget, strictly-fun series has a variety of classes which are determined at registration, pairing vehicles with similar power and performance outputs against each other. Races are run in an exciting, heads-up, double-elimination format.

A total of 36 amateur racers have competed in everything from completely stock sedans and SUVs to souped-up muscle cars, rat rods, and trucks. Motorcycles and ATVs are also welcome to complete, though none have tested the track yet.

General admission at the Wednesday Night Drag Racing Series events is only $5.00 for adults and free for children age 12 and under. Pit area admission is just $10.00 per person age 10 and up, and vehicle registration is only $10.00 per class.

Gates open at 6:00 p.m. at each event with racing at 7:30 p.m., and events typically last around two hours. As the events have rapidly grown in popularity, Devil’s Bowl will now food and drink options through its concession stand in the grandstand area at all remaining drag racing events, in addition to the pit area concessions.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of U.S. Route 4, Exit 2. For more information, visit www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112.
