'New England’s Fastest Dirt Track’ Welcomes First Responders, Healthcare Professionals for Hometown Heroes Night

WEST HAVEN, VT - Saturday at 7:00 p.m. racing returns to Devil’s Bowl Speedway for “Hometown Heroes Night” presented by the Rutland Regional Medical Center. Firefighters, military personnel, police, EMTs and nurses with proper identification will be permitted into the grandstands free of charge Saturday.

Once inside, they’ll be treated to a fantastic night of racing on the big half-mile with a full card of racing plus double features for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman and another appearance by the new 9th State Cannabis Crown Vic division. The program will be headlined as always by the Sunoco Modifieds running a 30-lap, $1200-to-win feature event.

The July 15th rainout has drivers and fans alike excited for the 2nd half of the 2023 racing season after a week away as championship battles begin to take shape in all divisions. Leaders at the seasons halfway point include Tim LaDuc (Modified), Randy Ryan (Limited Sportsman), Tyler Travis (Novice Sportsman), Logan Denis (Mini Sprint), Rob Steele (Crown Vic) and Craig Kirby (Mini Stock).

Longstanding leaders like Ryan, Travis and Denis will try to maintain their championship form at the head of the class while a recent lead change in the headline class has LaDuc trying to stretch his advantage in pursuit of the season-ending $5,000 championship prize. Crown Vic and Novice Sportsman point leaders Rob Steele and Tyler Travis have a unique opportunity to become the first champion in Devil’s Bowl Speedway history for their respective divisions as the Crown Vic class is brand new in 2023 and the 2023 Novice class is the first one to keep points since the class’ inception in 2022.

Outside of the points standings, many top drivers in all divisions have yet to visit victory lane in what has proved to be one of the most competitive seasons in recent history, with nearly 50 feature winners across all six Devil’s Bowl divisions.

Racing begins at 7:00 p.m. this Saturday, July 22nd. The pit gates will open at 4:00 p.m. and the grandstands at 5:30. The Drivers’ Meeting is scheduled for 5:30 with practice to follow at 6:00 p.m.

In the event of a rainout, racing will commence Sunday at 5:00.

General admission is $15 and Infield Drive-In parking is available for $20. Kids 12 and under are free. Pit pass fees are $28 for members and $38 for non-members.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of U.S. Route 4, Exit 2, and just 20 minutes from Rutland, Vt.
