Devil’s Bowl Speedway Holds 2025 Banquet of Champions

A packed house was on hand for the annual Devil’s Bowl Speedway “Banquet of Champions” Saturday night, November 1st, at the Holiday Inn in Saratoga, New York. Track champions in each weekly division were crowned, and others received recognition with special awards.

The first half of the program began with the announcement of the “Rookie of the Year” awards. TJ Knight received the award for the 9th State Cannabis Crown Vic division, Jeremy Brownell Jr., for the Fisher Auto Parts Mini Stocks, Alyssa Vanderpool for the Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprints, Rob Steele for the Hoosier Tire Novice Sportsman, Logan Denis for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman, and Eric Shaw for the Sunoco Sportsman Modifieds.

For the first time, two longtime contributors were honored with the Dedication Award. Track worker Rusty Bishop and photographer Bill McGaffin were recognized for their years of support and contribution to Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

Gage Provencher, also known as “Pigboy,” was crowned the champion for the Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprint division. It was the second straight title for Provencher.

Most Improved Driver awards went to Tyler Bell in the Fisher Auto Parts Mini Stocks, Levi Cram in the Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprints, Raelin Dunham in the Hoosier Tire Novice Sportsman, Katrina LeClaire in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman, and Brent Warren in the Sunoco Sportsman Modifieds

In the 9th State Cannabis Crown Vic division, Eric Friend received accolades as the track champion after edging out TJ Knight in the final race of the season.

Jeremy Brownell took home the hardware as the champion of the Fisher Auto Parts Mini Stocks, rallying from some late-season bad luck to persevere and win the title.

Aiden Benoure, who came out on top of a fierce, down-to-the-wire battle with Rob Steele, Raelin Dunham, and Winston Forbes, was crowned the champion of the Hoosier Tire Novice Sportsman Division.

Next, a driver from each classification received “Sportsmanship” awards as voted on by their peers. Alyssa Vanderpool for the Friend Construction Mini Sprints, Bob Wood for the Fisher Auto Parts Mini Stocks, Aiden Benoure for the Hoosier Tire Novice Sportsman, Logan Denis for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman, and Vince Quenneville for the Sunoco Sportsman Modifieds were all recognized for their respect to others throughout the 2025 campaign.

Jason Quenneville, who inched out an extremely close points race over Alex Layn and Logan Denis, collected the trophy and $2,000 for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman Championship. Quenneville invited several other drivers and key figures who aided in his title run to stand and be recognized, emphasizing that it was a complete team effort.

Josh Richards, who has made a major contribution for several years, received the “Award of Excellence” for his passion, leadership, and unending commitment to Devil’s Bowl Speedway and the stock car racing family.

Driver Joey Scarborough and his car owner and father, Don Scarborough, took the stage to be recognized as the champions of the track’s headline division, the Sunoco Sportsman Modifieds. Scarborough outlasted his closest challenger, Josh Sunn, to secure the title. Scarborough collected $5,000 plus awards for his championship season.

The final award of the evening handed out was the prestigious “John Bruno Award.” Bruno’s daughter, Helen “Chip” Alexander, came forward to present the award. Bruno was one of the central figures in Devil’s Bowl's early years. The award goes annually to someone who embraces the principles that Bruno lived by. The recipients have made significant contributions to short-track racing during their lifetimes while maintaining standards of conduct and respect.

The 2025 “John Bruno Award” was received by “Fast” Freddie Little, a longtime competitor at the track in multiple divisions and a five-time track champion. Little raced this season in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman Division.

The night concluded with some parting words from track owner/promoter Mike Bruno, followed by red carpet photos, dancing, and celebration.
Although it may seem a long way off, opening night for the 2026 season on Saturday, May 2nd, is just around the corner!
