Independence Day celebration to include fireworks and extra-distance events

WEST HAVEN, VT – The “Coca-Cola Firecracker” Independence Day stock car racing celebration at Devil’s Bowl Speedway just got bigger and better. The second round of the Enduro Series has been moved from its original date of Friday, June 28 to the Coca-Cola event on Friday, July 5 at 6:00pm, adding to what was already billed as one of the top racing events of the summer at the West Haven, VT track.

In addition to the 75-lap Enduro full of crazy amateur racing action and metal-crunching crashes, the Coca-Cola Firecracker will feature extra-distance 44-lap feature races for the Bond Auto Parts Modified and Late Model divisions of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, the Renegade and Central Vermont Motorcycles Mini Stock divisions, and a massive fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day.

Brett “Woody” Wood of Georgia, VT won the season’s first Enduro Series event on May 31 after a thrilling four-car battle for the lead with “Wild Bill” Fountain, his son Shawn “Mr. Bojangles” Fountain, and Eric “Mongo” Messier.

The Coca-Cola Firecracker will begin at an early start time of 6:00pm on Friday, July 5 and will include Coca-Cola merchandise giveaways during the event. In the spirit of the Independence Day holiday, race fans are encouraged to send a note of thanks or well-wishes to United States soldiers as part of the “NASCAR Salutes” program being held at Devil’s Bowl Speedway and other NASCAR-sanctioned tracks during the 2013 season.

General admission for the special event on Friday, July 5 is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and free for children 12 and under.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, VT, four miles north of Exit 2 on U.S. Route 4. For more information, visit www.devilsbowlspeedwayvt.com or call (802) 265-3112. Devil’s Bowl Speedway is on Facebook at facebook.com/DevilsBowlSpeedway and on Twitter at @DevilsBowlSpeed.
