Epic Memorial Day Doubleheader on Tap at Devil’s Bowl

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway is back in action this Saturday and Sunday, May 25th and 26th, for their annual Memorial Day Doubleheader Weekend, accented by the 15th running of the “Northeast Crate Nationals,” in its fourth season of being held at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

Time-trials, heat races, and a top-12 redraw will set the staring lineup for the main event, with consolation races transferring the top finishers and a pair of provisional starting spots being offered up to the highest-finishing 2024 Devil’s Bowl 100% attendees in those consolations.

The 100-lap, $5,000-to-win feature has routinely drawn big numbers of racers to Devil’s Bowl, pitting the region’s best sportsman drivers against Devil’s Bowl’s best regulars. The race drew 48 entrants in 2023.

St. Catharines, Ontario’s Cody McPherson won the 2023 edition, holding off Orwell’s Tim LaDuc and Manchester’s Frank Hoard, III. LaDuc was the 2022 winner, and Vince Quenneville, Jr., won the 2021 edition.

All qualifying and racing for the “Northeast Crate Nationals” will be done on Sunday, May 26th, with a start time of  6 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the race will be run on Monday, May 27th.

Saturday night’s racing program will begin at 6 p.m. and feature the first of four races in 2024 for the powerful 358 small-block modifieds paying $1500 to win, supported by the Hoosier Tire Novice Sportsman and 9th State Cannabis Crown Vics. The Sunoco Sportsman Modifieds will run time trials for “fun” to earn a guaranteed spot in the “Northeast Crate Nationals” along with $250 being paid for the fastest car, along with a 30-minute practice at the end of the night, offering drivers a chance to tune up for Sunday. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman, Fisher Auto Parts Mini Stocks and Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprints will have heat races Saturday and main events Sunday. There will also be mechanics races for the Novice, Mini Stocks and Crown Vics.

The weekend has also become a good-time staple on the annual schedule, with drivers, crew members and fans alike all taking advantage of the free, weekend-long camping to gather around campfires and relax.

Grandstand general admission is just $20 for adults and free for children aged 12 and under, good for both days of racing. Infield drive-in parking is also available for $25 for adults and free for kids for the entire weekend. Pit area passes are $45 and once again good for the entire weekend.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of U.S. Route 4, Exit 2, and just 20 minutes from Rutland, Vt.  For more information, visit www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112.
